France bound!

Work has officially taken over my life.

Confessions of a Midnight BakerYeaaaa that’s how the last month of my life has been.

However, here’s an important fact: it’s not been in the “I just sat in 2 hours worth of traffic to get to a job that I loath, where I’ll sit for the next 12+ hours, unappreciated and constantly bombarded with questions and demands and accusations, all the while dreaming of gauging my eyeballs out with the nearest pencil.. until I finally drive home at 9pm, only to sit in another hour’s worth of construction traffic” kind of way. No, no – those days are long gone, thankfully (along with my sanity, clearly).

This is more of the “I have 375 emails to get through today and ohmygosh I just got #376, which means an additional 2 hours of work on top of the already impossibly large list of tasks that I need to accomplish by the end of the day because everything is priority – but really everything IS priority and how the heck is it already Thursday I need another 6 days before this week can end and holy crap it’s 8pm where did the last five hours of my life go I could have sworn it was just noon because my friend texted me about lunch and crap I totally forgot to respond to her or the other 16 messages I’ve gotten between breakfast number one and afternoon snack number three and I seriously need to pee whyyyyy have I been holding it for two hours let me just finish this last sentence and then I’ll run to the bathroom and HOLY SHIT I’M GOING TO MISS MY TRAIN AGAIN” kind of thing.

I wish I were kidding. My brain no longer processes anything in full English sentences (clearly).

I relentless mock Peter for having the world’s busiest, most jam-packed schedule – and yet, here I am, finding myself in the midst of 12 hour work days and to-do lists that are four pages long. ugh.

The silver lining here – and BOY is it a silver lining – is that I love my job. That kiiiiind of makes up for the crazy, non-stop days where I don’t have time to pee. That, and we’re leaving today for France. Have I mentioned that already? Peter and I. We. Are. Going. To. France. For two whole weeks.

Is this my real life? I’m so excited I can’t see straight.

That said, I leave you with some French inspired treats to drool over in my absence. Maybe I’ll see if I can pick up a few French cooking/baking tips to share with you while I’m there! But more likely I’ll be busy trying to understand the locals and navigate my way through the French countryside. Oh, and drinking my body weight in wine on a daily basis.

Yea, mostly that.
